Following process describes how to set SAFR SCAN or SAFR Camera date and time.

Introduction

Date and time are set from the device when disconnected but set from the server when connected.   When setting on the server, you have the option to set individually on each device or globally for all devices.  Instructions below explain how to set these settings for all devices.  To set individually, go to "Advanced Processor Configuration" for the specific device.

How Time Synchronization Works

SAFR SCAN allows you to syncronzize time with either and NTP (Network Time Protocol) server, SAFR Server or both.  If synchronized with an NTP server, the time will be kept in sync to high accuracy (typically within microseconds).  If synchronized with SAFR Server, the time will be kept in sync within 30 seconds.  When used in combination, SAFR Server acts as a fallback if NTP server cannot be reached.  Once the device is 30 seconds or more out of sync, the device will will be corrected to SAFR Server time.  Devices out of sync by even a few minutes will function as normal except that events appear incorrectly on the timeline.  Its best to keep devices in sync with NTP so that events appear correctly ordered between devices.

In settings, you only have the option to disable both SAFR Server and NTP or enable both.  But if you set invalid location for NTP, then only SAFR Server sync applies.

Tip: Its not uncommon for SAFR SCAN not to be able to reach the public NTP server that is configured by default.  If SAFR SCAN is not keeping time to within 1 second, check that the network where SAFR SCAN is connected has route and there are not access rules on the switch that prevent SAFR SCAN from reaching the configured NTP Server.  You can change the NTP Server hostname or IP by setting as per below.
